Meta’s WhatsApp is changing the way verification marks are displayed on the instant messaging platform.

WABetaInfo has spotted a new "verified channel" feature in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.1.18 update that is being rolled out to testers who have signed up to receive the beta version of the app on Android.

An optional feature to add a verified badge to WhatsApp channels is in the works, as the Meta-owned messenger continues to bring improvements to the app, WABetaInfo reported.

The feature is being rolled out for WhatsApp on Android, which will allow business accounts to place a verified badge on their channels. Last year, the company announced that businesses would be able to subscribe to the parent firm's Meta Verified feature and get a verified tick on their profile.

According to WhatsApp News Tracker, businesses will be able to activate badges for their channels by subscribing to Meta Verify.

WhatsApp will soon have a new screen for business accounts with the option to add a verified badge to their channels.

According to WABetaInfo, "Businesses will get increased prominence with verification checkmarks, which indicate authenticity, and will likely also be added to the channel directory.”
