Starry Delights: Inside the Immersive Van Gogh Exhibits

Talk about making a big impression. Several traveling immersive exhibits are giving art lovers a larger-than-life view of some of Vincent van Gogh’s most famous works.

The Van Gogh, Starry Night show debuted in Paris in 2019 to wide acclaim—even earning a cameo in the Netflix series Emily in Paris.

Directed by “The Steven Spielberg of Immersive Art,” Massimiliano Siccardi, the show uses 140 video devices to project Van Gogh’s masterpieces over 3,500 square feet.

The paintings were transformed into medium-length films set to cinema-quality sound, covering the walls and floor of the space as animations brought them to life.

The show’s popularity has resulted in a half-dozen similar immersive van Gogh shows around the world, from Los Angeles to Abu Dhabi, and even a permanent installation in Indianapolis.
